Handcuffs (Epa) is a symbol of law and justice, slavery and captivity. Adolph Agbo in "Values of Adinkra Symbols" notes that handcuffs were introduced in Africa as a result of the slave trade and later became popular among chiefs in restraining offenders of the law. "The Symbol reminds offenders of the uncompromising nature of the law. It however discourages all forms of slavery"

Welcome

The Ghana Law Society was set up in 1960 by an Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to the Legal Profession in Ghana. The Legal Profession Act, 1960 (Act 32). The scope of the Legal Profession Act includes organisation of legal education and upholding standards of professional conduct and discipline.
